The Abundance, Richness and Percent Coverage found in Grassland

Prior to this experiment, researchers obtained a quadrat and a plant identification guide. Researchers collected data from the grassland located at York University by placing the quadrat randomly in the grassland and recording the name of the plant species found in the quadrat, their abundance, their species richness, and the percentage of space each species occuppied. A plant identification guide was used to identify the plant species found in the quadrat based on their distinct characteristics. Researchers sampled 20 quadrats randomly placed. Since, in this research, there were many grass (<em>poa</em>) in the grassland, "many" was placed in the abundance column of the data sheet because it was difficult to estimate the number of individuals of <em>poa </em>found in the quadrat.本实验开展前，研究人员已准备好样方（quadrat）与植物鉴定手册。研究人员于约克大学（York University）所辖草地开展数据采集工作：将样方随机布设至草地内，记录样方中发现的植物物种名称、各物种的多度、样方内的物种丰富度，以及各物种所占空间的百分比。研究人员借助植物鉴定手册，依据植物的显著特征对样方内的物种进行鉴定。本次研究共随机布设并采样了20个样方。鉴于本研究的草地中分布有大量早熟禾属（poa）植物，且难以估算单个样方内早熟禾属植物的个体数量，研究人员遂在数据表的多度栏中标注为“多”。
