Data Collection Method: The transect tape was extended in a straight line across the grasslands for a distance of 91.5ft. Starting from the beginning of the tape purple flowering plants (Aster species) within 1m on either side of the transect tape were analyzed as the target plant species. The information collected (number of leaves, number of flowers, height, crowdedness, distance from transect tape) from observing these plants were recorded in a data table on a notepad. The height of the plant was measured using a transect tape, from the ground to the tip of the tallest flower. The number of leaves and flowers were approximated. The crowdedness around each plants was based on a 0-3 scale, 3 being the most crowded surroundings. The experiment was conducted to observe the abundance and density of the target species (Aster) in the grasslands. Target Species: Tall purple flowering plants (Aster Species) – easily identifiable among the various plants in the grasslands. Data Collection Date: September 26, 2014 Data Collection Location: The grasslands near York University were very abundant in various species of plants and insects (ex. Bees, mosquitoes, flowers, weeds, tall leafy plants). The area was dry and the temperature was about 22˚C. Data Collected with: Lilach Dahoah-Halevi and Cait Carew

数据采集地点:约克大学(York University)附近的草原,该区域内各类植物与昆虫(如蜜蜂、蚊子、花卉、杂草、高大阔叶植物)种类丰富,场地干燥,环境温度约为22℃。
