VPRS 12196 Photographs

This series consists of photographs from the Royal Mint, Melbourne Branch. The subject matter includes machinery, staff involved in the production process, gold nuggets and group photographs of staff.The records in this series were stored together for some time pending arrangement and description. It was decided to maintain this arrangement and register these photographs as a single series. Some of the photographs included in this series would appear to be unrelated to the functions of the Royal Mint, Melbourne Branch (such as a collection of photographs of English schools). However, all photographs have been included in this series in case their physical association indicates some administrative association from the past.As the recordkeeping process prior to transfer of this series to PROV is unknown, the date the series was registered has been attributed as its date range, ie: 1999-1999. It is estimated that the contents date range of this series is c1890-c1969.
