WATER TEMPERATURE and other data from USS HERALD from 1992-06-02 to 1992-06-29 (NODC Accession 9200145)

The data in this accession were collected from USS HERALD between June 2, 1992 and June 28, 1992. The real time data of water temperature at varying depth bathythermograph (XBT) was recorded in stripcharts by the US Navy. Radio logs are forms that contain time, weather latitude/longitude, vessel id, ship id, etc. These are radioed every two hours to some military center. One line per strip chart. Some strip charts have time /date /ship id /latitude /longitude annotated on the strip chart. Forty three stripcharts and radio logs were submitted to NODC. The XBT data from these stripcharts have been digitized and are present in the current NODC data storage system in C116 file format.

本次入藏的数据集采集自“海神号”（USS HERALD），采集时段为1992年6月2日至1992年6月28日。美国海军将抛弃式深海测温仪（Expendable Bathythermograph, XBT）获取的不同深度海水温度实时数据，记录于长条纸带记录图中。无线电日志为包含时间、气象信息、经纬度、舰艇编号、船舶ID等内容的表单，此类日志每两小时通过无线电传输至某军事指挥中心。每张长条纸带记录图对应一行数据，部分记录图上标注有时间、日期、船舶ID及经纬度等信息。本次共向国家海洋数据中心（National Oceanographic Data Center, NODC）提交了43张长条纸带记录图及无线电日志。上述记录图中的XBT数据已完成数字化，并以C116文件格式存储于当前的NODC数据存储系统中。
