Abstract

The Country Opinion Survey in Uruguay assists the World Bank Group (WBG) in gaining a better understanding of how stakeholders in Uruguay perceive the WBG. It provides the WBG with systematic feedback from national and local governments, multilateral/bilateral agencies, media, academia, the private sector, and civil society in Uruguay on 1) their views regarding the general environment in Uruguay; 2) their overall attitudes toward the WBG in Uruguay; 3) overall impressions of the WBG’s effectiveness and results, knowledge work and activities, and communication and information sharing in Uruguay; and 4) their perceptions of the WBG’s future role in Uruguay.

From February to July 2020, 462 stakeholders of the WBG in Uruguay were invited to provide their opinions on the WBG’s work in the country by participating in a Country Opinion Survey. Participants were drawn from the Office of the President, Prime Minister; office of a minister; office of a parliamentarian; ministries/ministerial departments/implementation agencies; Project Management Units (PMUs) overseeing implementation of WBG projects; consultants/ contractors working on WBG-supported projects/programs; local governments; independent government institutions; the judiciary system; state-owned enterprises; bilateral and multilateral agencies; public-private partnerships, private sector organizations; the financial sector/private banks; private foundations; NGOs and community based organizations; trade unions; faith-based groups; youth groups; academia/research institutes/think tanks; the media; and other organizations.
