This data set is built to investigate how the effects of particulate matter (PM) on atopic dermatitis (AD) symptoms are influenced by weather type. A total of 125 young children (76 boys and 49 girls) under six years of age with AD living in Seoul, Korea, were enrolled as a panel and followed for 17 months between August 2013 and December 2014. Data include symptom presence, PM2.5, PM10, temperature, relative humidity, and weather type which includes dry moderate (DM), dry polar (DP), dry tropical (DT), moist moderate (MM), moist polar (MP), and moist tropical (MT), plus a transitional (TR) category, on a daily basis. Age, sex, SCORAD at enrollment, presence of fever as a proxy for infection, use of topical corticosteroids (TCS), and day of week (DOW) are also included as confounding factors. Exposure to PM2.5 and PM10 by each individual was estimated with time-weighted average concentrations, considering outdoor and indoor levels of PMs and time-activity of each individual.
