St. Catherine

This is an original wood sculpture of St. Catherine. She is a Christian saint and virgin, who was martyred in the early 4th century at the hands of the pagan emperor Maxentius. According to her hagiography, she was both a princess and a noted scholar, who became a Christian around the age of 14, converted hundreds of people to Christianity, and was martyred around the age of 18. More than 1,100 years following her martyrdom, Saint Joan of Arc identified Catherine as one of the Saints who appeared to her and counselled her.本作品为圣凯瑟琳（St. Catherine）的原创木雕。她是基督教圣徒与童贞女，于公元4世纪早期被异教皇帝马克森提乌斯（Maxentius）下令殉道。据其圣徒传记记载，她兼具公主身份与知名学者素养，约14岁时皈依基督教，感召数百人信教，并于18岁左右惨遭殉道。在其殉道1100余年后，圣女贞德（Saint Joan of Arc）将凯瑟琳列为曾向自己显现并给予劝诫的圣徒之一。
