Shotgun metagenome sequencing of microbial community in bioreactor removing Mn2+ and Zn2+ from mine drainage

In this study, a pilot-scale treatment system was constructed without added organic matter to feed the microbial community. The objectives of this research are to (1) evaluate the effectiveness of this bioreactor in the removal of heavy metals, including Mn(II) and (2) characterize the diversity and functionality of MnOB that can potentially enhance the bio-oxidation process in the treatment system.
