The heat resistance locus (LHR) is a mobile genomic island, common in bacteria of the family Enterobacteriaceae (especially E. coli), that is associated with the heat resistance phenotype. Whole genome sequencing was performed on E. coli isolates from animal products in order to detect the LHR in these genomes and its contribution to the high heat resistance.
