Gametogenic cycle of Mesodesma donacium in Peñuelas, Chile, 1995@en

Gonad stage: Percentage (from a montly sample of 20 clams) of male and female clams classified into four gonad stages: early mature; advanced maturity; mature; early regresion, final regresion. Classification was made after histological examination of alcohol-formol-acetic acid-preserved gonad samples. Tissue embedded in paraplast wax after dehydration, sectioned at 5 µm and stained with ARTETA trichromic stain before examination. Data points extracted from figure 21性腺分期（gonad stage）数据集：本数据集统计了每月采集的20只蛤类样本中，划分至四个性腺分期的雌雄蛤类个体占比，四个分期分别为早期成熟、进阶成熟、成熟、早期退化与最终退化。分期判定基于对酒精-福尔马林-乙酸（alcohol-formol-acetic acid）固定的性腺样本开展的组织学检查：样本经脱水后以石蜡包埋蜡（paraplast wax）包埋，切成5微米（µm）厚度的切片，经ARTETA三色染色（ARTETA trichromic stain）后进行镜检。所有数据点均提取自图21。
