United States Veterans Life Tables, 1980-2019

The U. S. Veterans life tables are reported by age (20-85), sex, and decade (1980-1989, 1990-1999, 2000-2009, and 2010-2019). The data used to prepare the U. S. Veterans life tables for 1980-2019 are Veterans Eligibility Trends and Statistics (USVETS) Version 2021 and dates of death from National Death Index (NDI) data obtained from VA Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention, Joint VA and DoD Suicide Data Repository (SDR) – NDI. The calculation of life tables is based on what would happen to a hypothetical cohort as if it experienced throughout its entire life the mortality condition as computed from the data, the same calculation of the U. S. life table [note: the U. S. life table is included as file nvsr71-01.pdf, as a description of methodology].
