The sampling site was set up in Chengdu, southwestern China. Samples were collected from 10 domestic washing machines in 10 different households. Each washing machine had 5 sampling parts: sealing strip in the loading door, detergent drawer, inner drum, water filter and the waste water from drain hose. 16S ribosomal RNA gene sequencing was used to distinguish the bacterial composition in the different parts.
