Cold Water Volunteers Their Role in Lake Champlain's Submerged Heritage Programs

From the beginning steps in 1979 to record and learn about the Lake’s submerged heritage, volunteer sportdivers have provided leadership and labor for surveys and documentation studies. Volunteer sportdivers continue to play key roles in fund raising, advocacy, and education and outreach programs about Lake Champlain’s submerged historic heritage. The Vermont model of volunteer sportdivers as vital components of an underwater archaeology program is mirrored in all states that have successful underwater heritage programs.
