Neurodegenerative disease-linked microRNAs acting as signaling molecules modulate CNS neuron structure and viability

The goal of this study is to compare gene expression of mouse cultured cortical neurons following exposure to extracellular miR-124-5p, and miR-92a-1-5p, which are dysregulated in Alzheimer´s disease. To investigate the effect of extracellular miRNAs on neurons, we exposed mouse cortical neurons to miR-92a-1-5p, miR-124-5p and a mutated control oligonucleotide, Mut.oligo, for 6h and 5d. Total RNA was extracted for RNA-seq, in 4 replicates, and comparative gene expression profiles were analyzed.
