MODERN METHODOLOGY ON TEACHING LISTENING SKILLS THROUGH AUTHENTIC MATERIALS

Teaching listening skills has become an essential component of modern English language education. Traditional listening activities often fail to prepare learners for real-life communication because they usually contain simplified language and artificial speech patterns. Therefore, the use of authentic materials has gained significant attention in contemporary language teaching methodology. Authentic materials such as podcasts, interviews, songs, news broadcasts, movies, and real-life conversations expose learners to natural language use, different accents, and realistic communicative situations. This thesis discusses modern methodologies for teaching listening skills through authentic materials, focusing on communicative language teaching, task-based learning, learner-centered instruction, and technology integration. The study also highlights the benefits and challenges of using authentic materials in English language classrooms. The paper concludes that authentic listening resources significantly improve learners’ listening comprehension, motivation, vocabulary acquisition, and communicative competence.听力技能教学已成为现代英语教育不可或缺的核心组成部分。传统听力教学活动往往无法帮助学习者适配真实生活中的交际场景，因其通常仅使用简化语言与人工化的语音模式。因此，真实语料（authentic materials）的使用在当代语言教学法领域获得了广泛关注。诸如播客（podcasts）、访谈节目、歌曲、新闻播报、影视作品以及真实生活对话等真实语料，可让学习者接触到自然的语言运用方式、多样的口音与贴合实际的交际场景。本论文探讨了依托真实语料开展听力技能教学的现代教学方法，重点围绕交际语言教学（communicative language teaching）、任务型学习（task-based learning）、以学习者为中心的教学（learner-centered instruction）以及技术整合（technology integration）展开论述。本研究同时梳理了在英语课堂中使用真实语料的优势与面临的挑战。本论文最终得出结论：真实听力语料可显著提升学习者的听力理解能力、学习动机、词汇习得水平与交际能力。
