Lowy Institute Poll 2013

The Lowy Institute Poll surveys are designed to capture and track any long-term changes in Australian public opinions on a broad range of foreign policy issues. The 2013 Lowy Institute Poll reports the results of a nationally representative opinion survey of 1,002 Australian adults 18 years and older conducted in Australia between 4 and 20 March 2013 using mobile and landline telephones. This is the ninth in the series and repeats many of the questions asked in earlier polls (ADA Study Numbers 01084, 01114, 01126, 01134, 01158, 01238, 01239 and 01253), revealing trends in public opinion on topics including foreign policy, international security, climate change, and attitudes towards the United States and China. Topics covered in this wave include Election 2013, worlds superpower, China, security and defence, US alliance, international economy, climate change, global warming and Emissions trading scheme, the rise of Asia, Indonesia, Asylum seekers and offshore processing, democracy, UN Security Council, 'Angloshpere', terrorism, WikiLeaks, and where Australians get their international news. Background variables include age group, gender, voting preferences, country of birth and parents' country of birth, language spoken at home, income and highest level of education.
