Comparative Morphometric Analysis of Corneal Endothelium Before and After Transplantation Using Voronoi Segmentation

This study reports a novel comparative ex vivo and in vivo analysis of the morphometric changes in corneal endothelium pre- and post-transplantation.Images of ex vivo corneal donor tissue pre-transplantation were compared with post-transplant in vivo confocal microscope (IVCM) images of the same tissue. These images were calibrated and analysed using Voronoi segmentation evaluating cell size, shape, and phase. Statistics collected: Donor Characteristics: Donor age (years), Death - storage duration (hours), Organ culture storage duration (days)Pre- and Post-Transplant: Days between pre- and post-transplant, Endothelial cell density (cells/mm2), Cell area (µm2), Area squares (%), Area pentagons (%), Area hexagons (%), Area heptagons (%), Area octagons (%), Area nonagons (%), Number of sides, Number of shapes, Hexagonal regularity (%), Coefficient of variation in cell area (%), Coefficient of variation in number of sides (%), Shape Index, Topological charge, Number of cells
