Supporting data for the paper: Mindel, B.L., Neat, F.C., Trueman, C.T., Webb, T.J. &amp; Blanchard, J.L. (2016) Functional, size and taxonomic diversity of fish along a depth gradient in the deep sea. PeerJ, 4:e2387; DOI 10.7717/peerj.2387<br><br>Datasets have been summarised to enable replication of figures and analyses from this paper. Data are provided by Marine Scotland Science from their ongoing deepwater trawl survey. <br><br>Calculate size diversity:<br>Input needed in order to calculate size diversity for each station using the Leinster-Cobbold measure of diversity. 'Class number' and 'Class midpoint' are based on length of individuals. 'Proportional abundance' is the proportion of biomass (based on the previous column 'Kg per hr') that that class accounts for within the station. The method of calculating size diversity (final column) can be found in the main manuscript.<br><br>Diversity and trait values:<br>Data needed to produce Figures 4, 5 and 6 from the paper. Includes values of all measures of diversity examined, plus means and standard deviations of continuous morphological traits as described in the manuscript.<br><br>Guild biomass: <br>Data needed to produce Figure 7 from the paper. Percentage of biomass accounted for in each depth band by each feeding guild.<br><br>Species codes: <br>Translation of species codes to Latin names.<br><br>Species site matrix:<br>One input into the calculation of functional diversity - biomass of each species in each station. The column names are species codes, and their translation to Latin names can be found in 'Species codes'.<br><br><br>
