Radiosonde atmospheric profiles in Baffin Bay and the Northwest Passage, 2016

Balloon launches carrying the radiosonde instrumentation were made at least once per day to provide continuous physical sampling of the troposphere. Balloon launches were also used to profile low-pressure systems, cyclones, and periods of significant warm or cold-air advection aloft. Radiosonde data provides a high-frequency sample of atmospheric temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and geopotential height.

每日至少开展一次搭载无线电探空仪（radiosonde）的气球探空作业，以实现对流层（troposphere）大气的连续物理采样。此类气球探空作业还可用于获取低压系统、气旋以及高空显著冷暖平流时段的大气垂直廓线。无线电探空仪数据可提供高频次的大气温度、湿度、风速、风向以及位势高度（geopotential height）观测样本。
