Transcriptional profiling of donor matched non palmar, palmer and Dupuytrens nodule fibroblasts

Dupuytrens disease is a debilitating fibroproliferative disorder restricted to the palms of genetically susceptible individuals . The initial stage of the disease process is characterized by small nodular thickenings composed of hyperproliferative and fibroblastic and myofibroblast cells. We wanted to determine the transcriptional profile of the fibroblasts isolated from the adjacent palmar and nonpalmar dermis of Dupuytrens patients to the fibroblasts and myofibroblasts isolated from the nodule as insight into what drives the generation of the myofibroblast rich nodule and ultimately gain a greater understanding of the pathophysiology of the disease.
