In-between possibilities: the everyday ethics of societal changes in Eastern Indonesia

This thesis examines the ethical and moral implications surrounding contemporary societal changes in Eastern Indonesia, focusing on the Island named Sumba. In doing so, this thesis draws on 15-months of village-based ethnographic fieldwork to demonstrate how changing societal dynamics in this part of the world can be made sense without always relying on the stark dualities involving us vs. them, West vs. non-West, modernity vs. tradition and so forth.
