资源简介:
In the field cricket Teleogryllus oceanicus, mutant males with feminised forewings (flatwings) recently appeared on two Hawaiian islands. Mutant males are obligately silenced, which protects them from attack by an acoustically-orienting parasitoid. Surprisingly, we found that while Kauai flatwings are almost completely feminized, Oahu flatwings retain a larger portion of normal wing venation. Wing feminisation segregates as a sex-linked, single locus mutation in both populations, but genomic analysis using RAD-seq indicates that different genomic regions are associated with the silent morph on either island.
