Transcriptomic profiles in major depressive disorder patients with different levels of inflammation. BIODEP

Transcriptomic analysis was performed from the observational, case-control, BIOmarkers in DEPression (BIODEP) study. Major depressive disorder (MDD) participants were divided in ‘not inflamed’ (CRP3 mg/L). Activation of immunometabolic pathways were reported in the groups with CRP higher than 1 mg/L. The main pathways characterizing the ‘not inflamed’ group were cell-cycle-related, suggesting their possible protective role against immunometabolic alterations. The present study demonstrates that transcriptomic profiles are important indicators for the molecular mechanisms involved in the different MDD phenotypes.
