Rewilding shows differential expression of sympatric Physella acuta (Draparnaud, 1805) snail lineages

A and B lineages of Physella acuta exhibit differential fitness. The underlying biology was studied by gene expression profiling in a rewilding experiment, comparing genetically-characterized snails from both strains that were kept under standard laboratory conditions versus those that were held under (semi-)natural field conditions. B snails showed modestly altered expression profiles among individuals and environments relative to A snails. Differential expression showed broader expression of immune-related genes in A snails.
