Genomic Analysis of Gaharu Producing Endemic Species from Gunung Leuser National Park (Aceh) using Long Read Sequencing of Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Two of the important wood plants in Indonesia are Castanopsis costata and Gyrinops versteegii. The C. costata also known as 'Saninten' tree in Indonesia is mostly sought for its nuts (chestnut) which is rich in protein. Saninten wood is also being sold to be used for construction or house furniture. On the other hand, the G. versteegii, also known as 'agarwood', is sought for their aromatic wood. However, to the best of our knowledge, genomic information is not available to study better the makeup of their gene function. The development of new sequencing devices with affordable cost, allow us to study the genetics of these two plants.
