The study identifies factors influencing professional associations’ member engagement using the “information practices” approach. In this autoethnography study, the experiences, epiphanies, and the frequency counts of 11 information practices of six SIG-III officers and volunteers when planning and implementing 184 activities of eight initiatives online from 2020 to 2023 helped us identify 99 factors that influence member engagement. Using thematic analysis, we classify these factors into 18 clusters and three groups, namely, management-centric, sharing-centric, and benefits for members. Eight tables representing eight SIG-III initiatives with detailed activities from the Information Practice lens are presented in the attached file. Operational definitions of the information practices are presented.
本研究采用信息实践(information practices)视角,识别影响专业协会会员参与度的各类影响因素。本项自传民族志研究中,研究团队收集了6名SIG-III工作人员及志愿者在2020年至2023年间线上策划、实施8项举措共计184项活动时的11项信息实践的经历、感悟与频次统计数据,最终识别出99项影响会员参与度的因素。本研究采用主题分析法,将上述99项影响因素划分为18个聚类及3大类,分别为以管理为中心、以共享为中心以及面向会员的收益类因素。附件文件中包含8张表格,对应8项SIG-III举措,从信息实践视角呈现了各项活动的详细细节。本研究同时提供了各项信息实践的操作化定义。
