The understanding of the physics of spin liquids is one of the key outstanding problems in quantum magnetism. From an experimental perspective, the lack of suitable candidate materials for this intriguing state hampers further development in the field. We propose the investigation of a promising newly discovered material, Nd3BWO9, where existing studies support the existence of a proximate spin-liquid state. We aim to obtain solid experimental proof of the existence of fractionalized excitations in this system at zero magnetic field, a signature of spin liquid ground states. Comparing the excitation spectrum at zero field and in a saturating high field will bring forward proof of the existence of the long-sought spin-liquid physics.
对自旋液体(spin liquid)物理性质的理解是量子磁学领域的核心未决难题之一。从实验研究的角度来看,适配这一新奇物态的候选材料匮乏,掣肘了该领域的进一步发展。我们提出对一种极具潜力的新发现材料Nd₃BWO₉开展研究,已有研究表明该材料中存在近自旋液体态。本研究旨在获取该体系在零磁场下存在分数化激发的确凿实验证据,而分数化激发正是自旋液体基态的标志性特征。通过对比零磁场与饱和强磁场下的激发谱,将为长期以来备受追寻的自旋液体物理的存在提供确凿佐证。
