UPEC is a the leading cause of UTI worldwide. It is increasingly becoming resistant to the regime of antibiotics recommended against it. Genome sequencing of such strains gives an insight about the genetic characteristics resistance and virulence markers exhibited by such pathogens. This genome will serve as a valuable resource to study epidemiological relevant pathogenic strains.
