Dataset of AI Chatbot Responses to Four Research Questions

This dataset contains original responses generated by five AI chatbot systems – ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity AI – to four identical research questions.The data were collected to support a comparative analysis of how different AI chatbots respond to the same prompts in a research‑related context. Each chatbot was queried using the same question wording, and responses were preserved in their original form, with only minimal formatting applied for readability.The dataset is organised by chatbot system: each chatbot has a dedicated folder containing four separate files corresponding to the four questions (Q1–Q4). An additional file provides the exact wording of all questions used in the study. A README file documents the dataset structure, data collection context, and usage notes.This dataset accompanies a research article entitled “AI Chatbots in Research Practice: Possibilities for Searching and Analysing Scientific Sources”, which has been submitted for peer review and is not yet published. A formal reference to the article will be added once it becomes available.All texts in the dataset are machine‑generated. The dataset reflects chatbot behaviour at the time of data collection (January 2025) and is intended to support transparency, reproducibility, and further research on AI‑generated responses.

本数据集按聊天机器人系统分类组织：每款聊天机器人对应一个专属文件夹，内含4个独立文件，分别对应4个研究问题（Q1–Q4）。另有一个附加文件收录了本研究使用的全部问题的精确表述。README文件则对数据集结构、数据采集背景及使用须知进行了说明。
本数据集配套一篇题为《AI聊天机器人在研究实践中的应用：检索与分析科学资源的可能性》的研究论文，该论文已提交同行评审，尚未正式发表。待该论文正式刊发后，将补充其正式参考文献信息。
数据集内所有文本均为机器生成内容。本数据集反映了2025年1月数据采集时的聊天机器人行为表现，旨在为AI生成回复相关的透明度提升、可复现性研究及后续拓展研究提供支撑。
