The purpose of the dataset C. elegans terminal bulb aging is to deduce the age of the nemathode based on images of the pharynx terminal bulb (part of the eating apparatus). Images of C. elegans were taken at different chronological ages. This image is part of the day 2 data set. Note that the morphological and chronological ages are not fully correlated due to the variability among individuals even though the individuals are genetically identical. The source for the dataset is Laboratory of Genetics/NIA/NIH.本数据集为“秀丽隐杆线虫（C. elegans）咽部端球衰老数据集”，其构建目的为基于咽部端球（pharynx terminal bulb，取食器官的组成部分）的显微图像，推断秀丽隐杆线虫的年龄。研究人员采集了不同日龄的秀丽隐杆线虫图像，本示例图像属于第2日龄数据集的一部分。需注意，即便个体遗传背景完全一致，由于个体间存在生理差异，其形态学年龄与实际日龄之间并非完全相关。本数据集的来源为美国国立卫生研究院（NIH）国立衰老研究所（NIA）遗传学实验室。
