The dataset includes source codes for various thermoregulation models used to validate and compare performance in simulating heat strain under moderate to extreme heat exposure. The folder is organized into four subfolders, each containing the source code and output files for a specific thermoregulation model: Modified Stolwijk Model (Stolwijk-2024 Model) Traditional Stolwijk Model (Stolwijk-1971 Model) Two-Node Gagge Model JOS-3 Model Contents and Structure Source Codes: Each subfolder contains the model's source code written in MATLAB/Python. The codes are extensively documented with comments explaining the purpose and functionality of each component, ensuring ease of use and modification. Output Files: The output files illustrate model simulations for various scenarios, including extreme heat exposure. For example, the models replicate the conditions described in Case 7 of Table 2 in the manuscript. Reference for Experimental Data and Exposure Details The experimental data and comprehensive descriptions of the exposure scenarios are derived from: Stolwijk, J. A., & Hardy, J. D. (1966). Partitional calorimetric studies of responses of man to thermal transients. Journal of Applied Physiology, 21(3), 967–977. This seminal work provides the foundation for comparing the models' predictions to real-world physiological responses. Additional Resources Model Descriptions: The detailed mathematical formulations and governing equations for each model are available in the manuscript and its supplementary material. These resources provide critical insights into the underlying mechanisms and assumptions of the thermoregulation models. Use and Citation Guidelines: If you use, reproduce, or modify the source codes, please cite the following publication: Comparative Analysis of Thermoregulation Models to Assess Heat Strain in Moderate to Extreme Heat, published in Journal of Thermal Biology.
