In this study, we investigated the impact of different food sources on life-history traits, such as longevity and fecundity, in females egg parasitoids of six Trichogramma species (two thelytokous and four arrhenotokous): T. cacoeciae Marchal, T. chilonis Ishii, T. minutum Riley, T. leptoparameron Dyurich, T. pintoi Voegele and T. sibericum Sorokina (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae). Five treatments were tested: control (no food, no host), sugar (provided as honey), sugar and hosts, hosts. Hosts were provided as eggs of Ephestia kuehniella. Females were either dissected and oocytes were count at emergence, at death or at different time during their life.

本研究针对6种赤眼蜂(Trichogramma)的雌卵寄生蜂(egg parasitoids),探究不同食物来源对其生活史特征(life-history traits,涵盖寿命与繁殖力等)的影响。供试的6个物种包含2种产雌孤雌生殖(thelytokous)型与4种产雄孤雌生殖(arrhenotokous)型,分别为卡氏赤眼蜂(T. cacoeciae Marchal)、稻螟赤眼蜂(T. chilonis Ishii)、微小赤眼蜂(T. minutum Riley)、细突赤眼蜂(T. leptoparameron Dyurich)、平托赤眼蜂(T. pintoi Voegele)以及西伯利亚赤眼蜂(T. sibericum Sorokina,均隶属于膜翅目(Hymenoptera)赤眼蜂科(Trichogrammatidae))。本研究共设置5组处理:对照组(无食物、无寄主)、糖源组(以蜂蜜作为糖源)、糖源与寄主组合组、仅寄主组。寄主采用地中海粉螟(Ephestia kuehniella)的卵。研究人员分别在雌蜂羽化时、死亡时,或是其生命周期内的不同时间节点对其进行解剖,计数卵母细胞(oocytes)数量。
