An Entrepreneurial Perspective on the Work Engagement of Lecturers at Private Universities in Indonesia

This dataset is a simulated representation of the primary data used in the study "An Entrepreneurial Perspective on the Work Engagement of Lecturers at Private Universities in Indonesia" (Muchtadin et al., 2026), which examined the effects of work-life balance, learning agility, and career development on work engagement among permanent lecturers at private universities in the DKI Jakarta region (Region III). The dataset consists of 300 respondents selected through purposive sampling, with the eligibility criteria of being a permanent lecturer at a study programme accredited B or Very Good. The demographic profile includes gender (48.3% male, 51.7% female), marital status, age group, education level (66.7% master's degree, 33.3% doctoral degree), academic functional rank (ranging from teaching staff to associate professor), and years of service. Each construct was measured using reflective indicators on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = Strongly Disagree to 5 = Strongly Agree): Work-Life Balance through five dimensions (time, flexibility, stress, health and well-being, and job satisfaction), Learning Agility through four dimensions (people, change, result, and mental agility), Career Development through four dimensions (human capital, environmental, motivational, and career management behaviours resources), and Work Engagement through three dimensions (vigor, dedication, and absorption). The mean construct scores in this dataset closely approximate the original study's findings, namely Learning Agility (≈4.24), Work Engagement (≈4.12), Work-Life Balance (≈4.07), and Career Development (≈3.95), with an inter-construct correlation pattern calibrated to match the HTMT values reported in the original article. This dataset is intended for learning purposes, PLS-SEM analysis simulation, or methodological replication, and is not the authors' original raw survey data.
