National-scale multi-temporal interval drought event characteristic dataset from 1982 to 2018. This dataset can reflect the drought temporal characteristics of different temporal scales across China. Developed based on precipitation data and potential evapotranspiration data, this dataset identifies and describes drought characteristics by calculating the Standardized Precipitation Evapotranspiration Index (SPEI) and applying run theory. The drought characteristics include drought duration, drought severity, drought intensity, drought interval, and drought frequency. This dataset can provide scientific spatial support for disciplines such as physical geography.
