Flowering is a complex trait, and it determined the crop performance under field conditions. Photoperiod is one of the major cues that affect the flowering behavior in temperate cereals. However, no efforts were made towards a comprehensive understanding of the molecular mechanism of photoperiodic flowering in the least explored cereal grain crops such as oat. In the study, we performed transcriptomic analyses on the photoperiod sensitive variety Baiyan 2 at different growth stage to investigate the molecular mechanism of photoperiod on oat flowering. Our research lays a theoretical foundation for constructing the flowering regulation network of oat, and also has important practical significance for promoting the adaptability of oat in low latitude areas as well as improving crop yield in the future.
