Naszodi and Mendonca (2021) develop a new method, the Generalized Naszodi-Mendonca method (henceforth GNM-method, see Wikipedia) for analyzing marital sorting along multiple traits. (The GNM-method is the generalized version of the NM-method)

They apply the GNM-method to construct a set of counterfactual contingency tables for decomposing changes in the prevalence of educational homogamy and racial endogamy in the US between 1960 and 2015. The decompositions alow one to study changes in aggregate marital preferences over spousal education and race from one generation to another.

New data points will be added to the counterfactual series as new census data are released (see WWWW.IDIL.LI the webpage of the International Demographic Inequality Lab).

The uploaded files allow one to replicate all the calculations in the paper and to apply the GNM-method in other empirical settings as well.

The GNM-method is fully implemented in Matlab, and R, while the Stata code implements the NM-method.

本次上传的数据集文件可复现论文中的全部计算过程，同时支持将GNM法应用于其他实证研究场景。
