Soils4Sicily: a rescued and harmonized legacy soil database for Sicily (Italy)

Soils4Sicily is a harmonised compilation of legacy soil data for the island of Sicily (southern Italy, Mediterranean Basin). The database integrates and standardises information from more than 50 distinct sources spanning more than six decades of soil survey activity, including institutional databases, peer-reviewed publications, non-digital legacy reports and theses, and other institutional datasets. All sites, sampling events, and analytical horizon data have been harmonised to a common schema, coordinate reference system, and classification framework (WRB 2022).
