Phoenix palms on the slope, Kilema?, Tanzania, ca.1901-1910

"Phönixpalmen an dem Hang" ("Phoenix palms on the slope"). Two big and one smaller phoenix palms dominate the picture. On the left, hidden by bushes, an African boy standing. Above the picture it reads: "Bananenschamben" ("Banana plants").; Cf. photo no. 293. -- The picture was probably taken by Johannes Schanz (1876-1963). He worked as a missionary of the Leipzig Mission in Moshi and Mamba from 1901 to 1910.
