This peptide mimics the epitope that is bound by the mAb CS40 on mannosylated lipoarabinomannan (ManLAM) derived from Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain H37Rv. Serum antibodies from TB patients (20/40) bound significantly to the mimotope by ELISA in contrast to antibodies from healthy individuals (3/36).
