Single cell RNA-seq profiling of gill cells of spotted sea bass in the freshwater and seawater

In this study, we generated single-cell transcriptomic maps of gill tissue to analyze 18174 cells from gill tissue of spotted sea bass acclimated in freshwater and seawater environments. We identified 14 cell types responsible for immunity and gas exchange and osmoregulatory. Importantly, we find that there are different cell types in gills between freshwater and seawater. This study provides a foundational resource for the exploration cell type-specific alterations for adaptation to salinity changes.
