African Refugee Camps Dataset

The African Refugee Camps Dataset (ARCD) is a geospatial panel dataset of refugee camps in operation in sub-Saharan Africa from 1999 to 2024. Prior data on refugee camps have lacked verified information on camp location, timing of operations, and size. The ARCD addresses this by including the verified geolocation of each camp, verified opening and closing dates, and verified annual refugee population counts. The dataset also provides information on the conflicts that led to the construction of each camp, and geospatial characteristics of each camp location calculated using publicly available geospatial data. It is part of a broader effort to improve publicly available data on the location, timing, and size of refugee camps around the world.非洲难民营数据集（African Refugee Camps Dataset，缩写ARCD）是一套覆盖1999年至2024年撒哈拉以南非洲地区所有运营中难民营的地理空间面板数据集。过往难民营相关数据普遍缺失经验证的难民营位置、运营时段及规模信息。ARCD正是针对这一不足打造，纳入了各难民营的经核实地理坐标、运营起止日期，以及经核实的年度难民人口统计数据。此外，该数据集还提供了催生各难民营兴建的冲突相关信息，以及基于公开地理空间数据计算得到的各难民营选址的地理空间特征。本数据集是一项旨在完善全球范围内难民营位置、运营时段与规模公开可用数据的系统性工作的组成部分。
