VPRS 12586 Board Minutes

This series recorded the minutes of the Board of the State Transport Authority's (S.T.A) meetings. Minutes were created to record general administrative activities of the Board discussed at the meetings, decisions on general matters, correspondence received, tenders authorised, appointments, summaries of reports, and budget and expenditure information.The State Transport Authority (STA) was established in accordance with section 13 of the Transport Act 1983 (No. 9921). This series and the related series VPRS 12590 Agenda commenced the day the STA came into operation, 1 July 1983.The Board consisted of the Director-General of Transport and nine other members appointed by the Governor in Council. This included a representative of the Victorian Farmers and Graziers Association, and others having experience in country public transport passenger facilities, public transport freight facilities and the tourist industry.The STA consisted of eight divisions, all of whom presented a monthly report to the Board. The divisions were Freight Services, Passenger Services, Transport Operations, Finance and Accounting, Corporate Services, Corporate Planning, Personal and Employee Relations, and Metropolitan Rail.
