资源简介:
The marbled murrelet is a small seabird found in the North Pacific. Marbled murrelets spend most of their time at sea, foraging for small prey underwater, but also have been observed in freshwater lakes near nesting sites. They breed in old-growth forests along the coast, and during the breeding season move between the ocean to forest during dawn and dusk. The marbled murrelet is listed as threatened under the Canadian Species at Risk Act primarily due to loss of old growth nesting habitat. Beginning in 1996 and ongoing, this monitoring project aims to monitor trends of marbled murrelets across British Columbia and within six designated conservation regions along the BC coast. Birds are detected and counted during dawn transits between ocean and forest using radar stations at specific sites (see Resources and Data collection & use pages for more detail). This repository contains the following five files:mamu-count-data (csv, txt): count data from marbled murrelet surveys from 1996-2018, where each line represents a survey.mamu-count-metdata (csv, txt): metadata explaining all variables in the dataset.README (txt): important contextual information describing study design, spatial and temporal characteristics, data use license, authors, and acknowledgements.Supplementary information can be accessed at the Marbled Murrelets OSF page: https://doi.org/10.17605/OSF.IO/ZSG63
