RV Investigator DNV Noise Measurement Hydrophone Data (IN2023_E03)

This metadata entry is in support of the measurements that were made of the underwater noise radiated by the RV Investigator in Storm Bay, Tasmania, on the 16 & 17th of September 2023 (UTC) during voyage IN2023_E03, titled "Trials & Calibrations". The purpose of the measurements was to monitor the radiated noise levels from RV Investigator since the last testing in 2020 and compare these to the baseline measurements that were established in Storm Bay in 2015. The measurement procedure was based on the DNV Silent R specification (DNV 2010), but as this was not intended as a compliance check, the DNV procedure was not rigorously followed. Generators 2 (centre) and 3 (starboard) were used for these tests.The measurement system consisted of two independent hydrophones, each with its own recording system. These systems included an Ocean Sonics SB35-ETH (the same instrument used in the 2015 tests) and a newer icListen RB9-ETH Ocean Sonics recorder. The 2015 deployment and test procedure in Storm Bay was replicated almost exactly in these September 2023 trials, with the two hydrophones mounted in a frame and deployed on the seabed within ~1.3m of the 2015 position.
