Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals (CSFII) and Diet and Health Knowledge Survey, 1989

<p>The CSFII/DHKS data are in a hierarchical data set comprised of six types of records. The record type is located in columns 1-2 of every record.There is one record type 15 for each household containing general household data. Each household is uniquely identified by the household identification number found in columns 5-9. There is one record type 20 for each household member whether or not they had any completed intake records (participated). Record type 20 contains general household characteristics and personal data, but no intake data. Each household member is uniquely identified by the household identification number found in in columns 5-9 and their person number found in columns 10-11. Record types 30, 35 and 40 contain intake data for each respondent completing an intake record. Each record type 30 contains data that describe an individual food item. There is one type 30 for each time a food is reported each day. There are record types 35 and 40 for each day an individual participated. The type 35 contains daily totals of food intake for major and subset food groups. The type 40 contains the respondent's daily nutrient intakes expressed as percentages of the 1989 Recommended Dietary Allowances and as absolute intake totals. In addition to the daily type 35's and 40's there is a record of each type containing averages for individuals with more than one day's intake records.</p>
