资源简介:
The ability of live bacteria to biodegrade organic compounds in cloud water has important implications for secondary organic aerosol (SOA) and cloud formation. The bacteria have to be metabolically active in order to biodegrade organic compounds in cloud water. However, clouds are harsh environments for living bacteria because they are exposed to a variety of atmospheric conditions (e.g., solar radiation, high acidity) that are considered to be stressful to bacterial cells. In this study, we investigated the effects of simulated solar radiation and aqueous phase acidity (pH 2.9 to 5.9) on two bacteria strains that are affiliated to the Enterobacter genera in microcosms designed to mimic the chemical composition of atmospheric cloud water.
