49 High Street, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. Archaeological Monitoring (OASIS ID: heritage1-259195)

In response to a condition on planning consent for the construction of a garden wall, detached garage, vehicle turntable and associated landscaping and services at 49 High Street, Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, the Heritage Network was commissioned to undertake a programme of archaeological monitoring of the groundworks. Monitoring of the development groundworks revealed a brick wall foundation possibly relating to the building shown on the site on 19th and 20th mapping. This had been demolished in the mid 20th century. The trench sections revealed topsoil over a considerable depth of overburden, suggesting that the site had been levelled and built up again prior to the construction of the building. No other archaeological features, deposits or artefacts of archaeological significance were observed during the course of this project.

针对赫特福德郡金斯兰利市高街49号花园围墙、独立车库、车辆转盘及相关景观与配套设施建设的规划许可条件，遗产网络（Heritage Network）受委托开展该场地土方工程的考古监测项目。本次开发项目的土方工程监测工作发现一处砖墙基础，其可能与19、20世纪测绘图中标注的场地内建筑相关。该建筑已于20世纪中期被拆除。探槽剖面显示表层土之下存在厚度可观的覆盖层，表明该场地在该建筑建造前曾被平整并垫高。本项目实施期间未发现其他具有考古价值的遗迹、堆积或考古遗物。
