Dataset of Oil or geopolitical issues? : Quantitative Rethinking of Political Instability in the Middle East and North Africa

Due to its geopolitical position and oil production, the Middle East has always been the trump card in the game, both before World War II and during the Cold War, still today. The data show that being an ex-French colony or ex-British colony worsens the Fragile States Index score. The artificial frontier sparked not only wars against Israel, but also conflicts within Arab countries. The results are consistent with shatterbelt theory in geopolitics.鉴于中东地区的地缘政治地位与石油产出能力，自第二次世界大战前、冷战时期直至今日，其始终是国际地缘博弈中的核心王牌。数据表明，曾为法国殖民地或英国殖民地的国家，其脆弱国家指数（Fragile States Index）得分会有所恶化。这类人为划定的边界不仅引发了针对以色列的战争，还在阿拉伯国家内部催生了诸多冲突。上述研究结果与地缘政治学中的破碎地带理论（shatterbelt theory）相一致。
