NRS-12881 | Minutes of meetings of directors [Sydney Railway Company]

This series consists of bound volumes of minutes of the Sydney Tramroad and Railway Company Provisional Committee, and the Sydney Railway Company. The contents of the volumes are handwritten and commence with the inaugural meeting held on 11 September 1849 where a chairman and provisional committee were appointed. The minutes of the Provisional Committee cover the dates 11 September 1848 until the election of directors of the Sydney Railway Company on 13 November 1849.The minutes show the date of the meeting; those present; and motions and resolutions relating to such things as the appointment of sub-committees; railway surveys; appointments of solicitors, engineers, surveyors; rates of interest for shareholders; expenditure and tenders; compensation for land holders; and line extensions. Copies of correspondence, reports and statements of accounts laid before the meeting are also included.
