ESG Data is a comprehensive set of data points that covers a variety of environmental, social and governance themes. Our initial data set includes management, corporate governance and controversial event indicators.

An indicator is an assessment of a company’s performance on a particular aspect of an ESG issue, and may be based on qualitative or quantitative information. For example, for management indicators, we might assess the quality of an environmental policy, the carbon intensity trend of a company relative to its peers, or the quality of a business ethics programme. Corporate governance indicators assess varying aspects of a company’s corporate provenance management practices, structures and behaviors, while controversy event indicators evaluate the severity of a company’s involvement in media-reported controversial activities.

ESG Data covers a broad range of ESG topics for a large universe of companies. Specifically, more than 220 indicators for over 11,000 companies
